Elson Everett Baldwin, 80, of 597 Williams Road, LeRaysville, PA, fondly regarded by his family and many friends as “Parker,” went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011 following an extended illness. He was born Dec. 21, 1931 in Rushville, the son of James and Ruby Birdsall Baldwin.
Parker served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1960 during the Korean War. He enjoyed operating his garage in LeRaysville for 40 years, spending time with his family and dear friends, fishing and hunting. Many will remember precious times spent with Parker as he shared his stories.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Frances Henry Baldwin, at home; children, Anna (Jerry) Chilson of Rome, Wanda (Paul) Jackson of Towanda, Anita (Doug) Clearwater of LeRaysville, Everett (Trudi) Baldwin of LeRaysville, Jody (Brian) Hawthorne of LeRaysville, Michael (Kim) Baldwin of Rome. Parker was blessed with 10 grandchildren; 18 greatgrandchildren and a special little angel, Crystal Clearwater of LeRaysville; a brother, Welton Baldwin of Warren Center; sister, Verna (Ken) Vail of Hot Springs, FL; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Dale Robert Baldwin; half-brother, James Baldwin; sisters, Mildred Dooley and Mary Newman and sister-in-law, Beverly Baldwin.
A memorial service was held Friday, Dec. 30 at 1 p.m. at Haigh’s Pond VFW Post No. 6824, Potterville, with Pastor Tom Burlington of the Dille Parish United Church of Christ of LeRaysville and Potterville officiating. The family received friends following the memorial service until 5 p.m. with a memorial dinner following at the post.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be directed to the H.O.P.S. Ambulance Association, c/o James Seipler, 606 Ridge Road, Rome, PA 18837 or to the LeRaysville- Pike Volunteer Fire Company, PO Box 78, LeRaysville, PA 18829 in Elson Everett “Parker” Baldwin’s memory.
