James D. Pugh of Washington Park, Tunkhannock, PA died at his home on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011. He was born in Edwardsville on June 19, 1939, son of the late James D. and Dorothy Elsie Broomfield Pugh.
Jim was a graduate of Edwardsville High School, Class of 1957. He was a Navy veteran of 20 years serving in Naval Aviation as a flight engineer. He served in Vietnam doing one tour as a Naval Advisor and 10 years in the Naval Reserve. He retired from Procter & Gamble in Mehoopany in 1978 after 20 years of service. He was a member of Franklin Lodge # 263 F.&A.M. in Laceyville.
Jim was preceded in death by brothers, William and David Pugh and a sister, Dottie Jones.
Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Christine Kinnaugh Voorhees Pugh; sons, David and wife, Hope Pugh of Tunkhannock, James of New Albany, Ohio, Michael Voorhees of Meshoppen, Kevin and wife, Roxie Voorhees of Coney Island, NY; daughters, Barbara Ann Pugh of Laceyville and Janine Pugh of Tunkhannock; grandchildren, Edie and Mike Voorhees, Georgina Pugh, Danny and Kaleigh Mayer.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Dec. 23 at 6 p.m. from the Sheldon- Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc., 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock with Fr. Richard J. Polmounter, Pastor of the Church of the Nativity BVM in Tunkhannock. The family received friends from 4 until the time of the service.
