Mary Theresa Crawford, 88, of Wyalusing, PA passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 13, 2012 at the Skilled Nursing Unit at Memorial Hospital, Towanda, with her loving family at her side.
Born in Philadelphia on Sept. 17, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Katherine Slowey Saring. She married Joseph S. Crawford, Sr. of Lansdowne, PA on June 20, 1942. They resided in the greater Philadelphia area until retiring to Bradford County in 1976.
Mary was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Wyalusing. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo and traveling.
Surviving are her three sons, Joseph S. (Judith) Crawford, Jr. of Severna Park, MD, Francis (Deborah) Crawford of Holland, PA and Daniel (Lorraine) Crawford of Levittown; a daughter, Katherine (Rick) Carr of Wilmot; her sister, Sister Frances Katherine MSBT of Philadelphia; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by her husband and a son, James C. Crawford; a sister; Mary Saring, and three brothers, James Saring, Frank Saring and Joseph Saring.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church, Wyalusing, with the Rev. Joseph J. Manarchuck presiding. Interment will be in the Norconk Cemetery, Wilmot.
Friends called at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing.
