The Dietrich Theater in Tunkhannock will be holding auditions for “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” by appointment on Saturday, Jan. 28 from noon to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 29 from noon to 5 p.m. Actors needed are four women, ages 18- 50 and 12 men, ages 18 to 70. The Big Game Sunday Chicken Barbecue, sponsored by the Herrick Township Vol. Fire Co. is taking orders for barbecue to be held on Sunday, Feb. 5. The cost is $5 per half and can be picked up at the hall at 11 a.m. The barbecue will be pre-orders only, and can be ordered through any firemen or by calling Jason at 570-744-1504 or Glenn at 746-3957 by Jan. 27. Peoples State Bank Relay for Life team is sponsoring a Quilt Raffle. Tickets are on sale now at the bank on Rt. 6, Wyalusing and the quilt is on display there as well.

A benefit will be held for Justin Owen, who is recovering from an accident when a faulty firework blew up in his face causing severe damage to his left eye in Jan. 2012. He will be making many trips to a Rochester hospital throughout his recovery process. A spaghetti dinner will be held on Feb. 26 at the Laceyville Fire Hall from noon to 8 p.m. There will also be a bake sale, basket raffle and Chinese Auction.

Stop in to Peoples State Bank, Rt. 6, Wyalusing, and make a donation to the Sean Allen Family Fire Fund. The family lost their home and belongings in a fire on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

The monthly Sunday Vesper Service will be held on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 5 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, corner of Church and Chestnut Streets, Montrose. A simple meal will be served in the Parish House following the ecumenical services. Everyone welcome.


Wyalusing Adult School classes begin Feb. 1. Schedules available at area libraries, Wyalusing Chamber of Commerce, restaurants and other businesses. Registration forms can be dropped off at the Wyalusing Chamber of commerce or the Wyalusing Public Library. The bread baking class, taught by Valeria Hill is limited to six people and will be held at the home of Mary Beth Voda on Saturday, Feb. 18 from 1 to 5 p.m. Cost is $30 and will include demonstrations, bread baking, all ingredients, recipes and sourdough starter. Participants do not need to bring anything and all will go home with bread. Call Mary Beth for directions. The poker for women and men classes will be held four Tuesdays, Feb. 14 through March 6 at the Wyalusing Hotel from 6 to 8 p.m.

The Road to Recovery program provides transportation for cancer patients to and from their lifesaving cancer treatments. An upcoming Road to Recovery training will be held on Jan. 27 from 10 a.m. to noon in Conference Room A, Memorial Hospital in Towanda. The Magic Years Parenting Class for babies and toddlers will be held eight Wednesday mornings, beginning Feb. 1 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Susquehanna Co. Office Building, 81 Public Ave., Montrose. Knights of Columbus Ham Dinner on Saturday, Jan. 28 from 4 to 7 p.m., St. Basil’s Hall, Dushore. Open auditions for the Winding River Players’ two 2012 Spring shows will be held on Thursday, Jan. 26 at The Black Box Theatre, 415 Main St., Towanda from 6 to 8 p.m. Roles are available for men and women of all ages. Quilt Show rescheduled. Get ready, plan ahead and join in. The Endless Mountains Quilt Guild quilt show, canceled due to the flood in 2011, is rescheduled to take place on Sept. 22-23 in Athens. Quilters of all levels are invited to display their quilts. You do not need to be a guild member. There is no fee to enter. Young quilters are encouraged to enter as well. Wyalusing Youth Football and Cheerleading, Inc. (WYF&C, Inc.) board will meet on Monday, Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. at the Wyalusing American Legion.

FWM Baseball signups will begin this weekend at the FWM fire hall in Mehoopany on Saturday, Jan. 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 29 from 1 to 3 p.m. The following weekend will be available for signups on Saturday, Feb. 4, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Feb. 5, 1 to 3 p.m.
