John R. Norton, 38, of Wilmot, PA, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012 at his home.
Born in Montrose on Sept. 19, 1973, he was the son of Phillip and Louise Heeman Norton. He attended Wyalusing Valley High School where he played baseball and football, graduating in 1992. He met the former Kimberlee Kaufmann while they were both in school; they were high school sweethearts and were married on Oct. 10, 1998. After school John took over his father’s stone quarry business.
He loved spending time with his family and friends. He was well-known throughout Bradford and Sullivan Counties. John loved to spend time outdoors, whether taking his kids for walks in the woods or teaching them about the quarry business. He was a die-hard Steelers fan; he loved watching football and was also an avid hunter. He will be missed by all.
Surviving are his spouse, Kimberlee, at home; son, Evan Norton and daughters, Kailee Norton and Karley Norton, all at home; parents, Phillip and Louise Norton of Silvara; brother, Allen (Kim) Norton, of Owego, NY; sisters and brotherin laws, Phyllis (Terry) Brown of Mehoopany, Penny (Ron) Pilch of Laceyville, Cathy (Randy) Johnson of Wyalusing and Jennifer Norton of Silvara and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 21, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Wilmot, at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Robert G. Kaltenbaugh officiating. Interment was in St. John’s Cemetery.
Friends called at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, on Friday, Jan. 20, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Pallbearers were Jay Johnson, Aaron Johnson, Chris Norton, Zane Pilch, Michael Liddick, “Punk” Heeman, Robin Salsman and Justin Kaufmann.
