Born on March 26, 1936, in Brooklyn, NY, she was a daughter of the late James and Mary Rubino Hood. She met and married Dominick Sperlazzo of Brooklyn, NY on Oct. 3, 1953 in St. Paul’s Church, Brooklyn, NY. Dominick predeceased her in 1991. They moved to Terrytown in 1971, where she devoted her life studying her faith and raising her four children.
She loved spending time with her family, crafts, sewing and making the best red sauce in the world. Her family was her life and she will be dearly missed by all.
Virginia was a devoted Catholic and a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Wyalusing.

A Transferal Service will be held on Friday, Feb. 10 at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Wyalusing, with the Rev. Joseph J. Manarchuck, her pastor, presiding. Interment will be in Wyalusing Cemetery.
Friends called on Wednesday, Feb. 8, from 6 to 9 p.m. and are invited to call on Thursday, Feb. 9, from 1 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing.
