Edith Sick Goodwin
Born at home in Lovelton, on June 23, 1936, she was the first child of the late Robert Henry and Dorothy Potter Sick. She graduated from the Wyalusing Valley High School in the Class of 1954. In 1955, she married Perle Goodwin and they raised their two children, Dan and Janice, on the family farm. Edith worked at various jobs outside of the home, most recently retiring in 2002 from the P&G Credit Union after 17 years of service. While there she was in charge of the Credit Union’s Tyler Hospital branch office.
She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, sister, aunt, friend and co-worker; her kindness and giving spirit was felt by everyone she met. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, playing cards and especially spending time with her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren particularly brought her great joy. She was also an active member of the Forkston United Methodist Church for over 50 years, where she served in many capacities, including treasurer, choir member, and officer for the United Methodist Women.
Surviving are her son, Daniel (Cindy) Goodwin of Wilmot Twp; daughter, Janice (James) Copp of Wilmot Twp.; brother, Norman Sick of Falls Church, VA; sisters, Joyce Roland of Edgewood, MD, Connie (Thomas) Bliss of Wilmot Twp; grandchildren, Shay Goodwin of Wyalusing, Chantel (Patrick) Newell of Homets Ferry, William Copp of Wilmot Twp., Keon Copp of Wilmot Twp.; great-grandchildren, Elaina Goodwin of Homets Ferry, Izaiah Newell of Homets Ferry and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Edith was predeceased by her parents, Robert in 1983 and Dorothy in 2003, and her brother in-law, Ron Roland in 2009.
Edith’s family met friends on Sunday, Feb. 26, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, and at the Forkston United Methodist Church on Monday from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral service. A funeral service celebrating Edith’s life was held on Monday, Feb. 27 at 3 p.m. at the Forkston United Methodist Church, Forkston, with Pastor Jean Swett officiating. Interment will be in the Forkston Cemetery immediately following the service.
