LUCRETIA YORK: MATRIARCH OF THE WYALUSING VALLEY
In honor of Women’s History Month, the Wyalusing Valley Museum brings you the story of one remarkable woman in this area’s rich heritage. Lucretia Miner was born in Voluntown, Connecticut in 1733. She grew up in a family of 12 children about 18 miles inland from coastal Stonington, CT. In 1752 Lucretia, at the age of 19, married Amos York who was 22 years old.
