Born on Feb. 4, 1919 in Terrytown, he was a son of the late John C.M. and Sarah Gross Kithcart. He met and married Evelyn I. Woodruff on Aug. 12, 1939; they recently just celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary. Evelyn predeceased him on Aug. 30, 2011.
He served in the Army in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations during WWII. After the war, he worked for the railroad in Laceyville for a few years. He moved to Browntown and began operating the family dairy farm on Canyon Road. He sold the farm in 1968 and went to work for PennDOT, from which he retired in 1985.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and making trips to Canada where he went moose hunting. He also made many trips to Pulaski, NY where he fished for salmon.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Janet (Wayne) DeRemer of Laceyville, Donna Kithcart and Michael of Spring Hill, Pam (Karl) Santee of Wyalusing; son Daniel C. Kithcart and Joyce Wilcox of Ulster; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Anna Farr, Grace Goodwin, Gladys Heeman, Lena Kithcart and Edna Kithcart and brothers, John Kithcart and Arthur
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday,
March 6 at the P.
Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, with the Rev. Penney M. Rahm officiating. Interment followed in Wyalusing Cemetery.
Friends called at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
