Kenneth Leslie Ayers, 92, of South Hill Road, Wyalusing, Orwell Twp., PA passed away Monday morning, March 5, 2012 at his home. Born Jan. 23, 1920 in Ithaca, NY, he was the son of George W. and Ella Powers Ayers. As an infant, he moved with his parents to the family farm in Orwell Township where he resided for over 90 years.
Kenneth attended school at Allis Hollow and Orwell High School and then worked on the family farm his entire life. He loved farming, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family and pets.
Survivors include his sisters, Marion Watson, Ellen Robinson, Betty (Vern) Orshaw, Geraldine (Fred) Forys and Marie Jacobs; several nieces and nephews; a special niece and nephew, Jane and Jim Seipler and his special caregiver, Sheryl Teeter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Erma Watson and Irene Ayers and brothers-in-law, Karl Watson, Paul Watson, Donald Robinson and Robert Jacobs.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, March 8 at 12 p.m. at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, with Rev. Daniel Orshaw, his nephew, officiating. Interment will follow in Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mills.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
