Wilson Welliver

Wilson Eugene (Gene) Welliver of Vancouver, WA went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012.

Gene was born March 3, 1932 in Albany, NY the son of Eloise and Gerald Welliver. He grew up in Herrickville and graduated from Wyalusing Valley High School in 1951. After completing a four year tour of duty in the Navy, he enrolled in and graduated from Azusa Bible College in California.

He married Levita Agee on Dec. 28, 1956 and together they raised three sons. Levita passed away in May 1993.

He spent most of his lifetime in ministry. He was pastor of several evangelical churches in California, Oregon and Washington.

He married Sara Sabarto on Jan. 8, 1994.

Mr. Welliver was a gifted musician and composed several songs expressing his faith. One of his endearing qualities was a gift of gab. He was never at a loss for words. He could enter a roomful of strangers and within minutes be a friend with most everyone there. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a quip on the end of his tongue. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Levita and a sister,

Joanne.

Survivors include his wife, Sara, at home; sons and daughters in-law, Mel and Kim of Kearns, UT, Phil and Kennalee of Haywood, CA, Mitch of Portland, OR; adopted daughter, Timi and Bob of Moses Lake, WA; three granddaughters and one grandson; a brother, Don of Conner, MT and a sister, Virginia and Lloyd Stein of Ogden, UT. He is also survived by two aunts, Jan Ardlsey of Watertown, NY and Edna Welliver of Herrickville; a niece, several nephews and numerous cousins.

A memorial service and celebration of Gene’s life was held on March 3 at the Valley View Evangelical Church in Portland, OR.
