Rhea Arvilla LaFrance Lee passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 10, 2012. Born Aug. 5, 1912 in Meshoppen Township, she was the daughter of Levi R. LaFrance and Grace Love LaFrance. A graduate of Meshoppen High School in 1930, she also graduated from Bloomsburg State Teachers College in 1932. She taught for six years in Susquehanna County, mostly in Auburn Township.
On April 28, 1938, she married Ronald Snover Lee and worked with him at Lee and Sons Store in Springville for more than 25 years. Since 1982 she has lived most winter months in St. Cloud, FL.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting and gardening. She was a member of the Springville Methodist Church. She was instrumental in starting the Snover family reunion and the Springville Ladies Auxiliary Clothes Closet.
Rhea is survived by three sons, David (Doreen) of Las Vegas, NV, Danny (Carol) of Hampstead, MD, Donald (Rebekah) of Springville; one daughter, Myrna (Randon Baker) of Hammondsport, NY; nine grandchildren, David, Devin, Steven, Nathan and Justin Lee, Jennifer Barquin, Katherine Bell, Drew and Todd Corson; 15 great-grandchildren, Evan, Hannah, Sydney, Myles, Phoebe, Dylan, Keira and Brendan Lee, Caroline and Jillian Barquin, Madison, Diego and Riley Corson, Taylor and Sydnee Bell. Her husband and her greatgranddaughter predeceased her.
The family held visiting hours on Wednesday, March 14, at Bartron-Myer Funeral Home, Inc. in Montrose from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a memorial service immediately following at 1 p.m. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
The family will provide flowers, and those wishing to remember Rhea might consider making contributions to the Springville United Methodist Church or the Springville Ladies Auxiliary.
