Ruth Preston Foisy, 86, of Towanda, PA passed away Sunday, April 8, 2012 at her home. Born in Dallas, PA on Feb. 7, 1926, she was the daughter of Charles Preston and Sybil Clark Preston.
She was a graduate of Camptown High School, Class of 1943, and was employed by the Eclipse in Elmira Heights, NY during World War II. On June 30, 1945 she married Donald H. Foisy in Burlington, VT. Ruth was employed by GTE Sylvania in Towanda for 27 years until her retirement on April 1, 1980.
Ruth was a member of the Sylvania Women’s Club and the local WOW Chapter. She enjoyed quilting, painting, flower gardening and collecting perfume bottles.
Surviving are her husband of 66 years, Donald H. Foisy at home; sons, Stephen P. (Michaelene) Foisy of Binghamton, NY, Roger L. Foisy of Anchorage, AK; grandson, Kurt Kulzer; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Sydney; sisters, Grace (George) Howland of Herrickville, Janet Jagger of Wyalusing, Betty Demann of Towanda, Jean Burguess of Elmira, NY; brothers, Herbert Preston of Wyalusing, Floyd Preston of Laceyville, Nile Preston of Little Meadows; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Clyde, Paul, Mark, Clark and Elmer Preston.
The funeral service was held Wednesday, April 11 at 11 a.m. at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, with Pastor Donn Hauser of the Independent Baptist Church, Towanda, officiating. Interment followed in the Camptown Cemetery. The family received friends Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
