James W. Zick, 62, of Kingsley, PA died on Thursday afternoon, May 10, 2012 while caring for his farm animals. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Carol Manning Zick. They shared a wonderful family and recently celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary on March 2.
Born on Oct. 29, 1949 in Scranton, he was the son of the late William F. and Elizabeth Oliver Zick. He was a graduate of Mountain View High School, Class of 1967.
He was a lifetime farmer, raising dairy and beef cattle. He was known for his love of gardening. People would come to see his beautiful landscaping around the farm. He was passionate toward his family and always making sure that his children never gave up and always worked hard for everything they had. He always took pride in letting everyone know how proud he was of the success of his family.
He was a member of Mountain View School Board for 29 years where he served as president, and he was recently honored for his dedication and service to the school and community. He was a member of Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative, Valley Energy, Citizens’ Electric Company, Mountain View Alumni Association and the Maplewood Cemetery Association.
Surviving are his children, son Brandon Zick and wife, Erin of Edwardsburg, MI; son, Bristol Zick and wife, Diana and grandchildren, Addison and Calvin of Norristown; son, Jeffrey Zick and wife, Ellen of Healdsburg, CA; daughter, Bridget Zick of Las Vegas, NV; daughter, Christina Zick of Ithaca, NY; daughter, Olivia Zick at home; sisters and brother-in-law, Joanne Zick, Judy and William Mitchell, all of Kingsley.
He was an amazing father and community leader and will be greatly missed.
Public visitations will be held on Tuesday, May 15 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Bartron Myer Funeral Home, Montrose. The service will be at the convenience of the family.
