Kay Jane Janisse, 76, went to her Lord the morning of June 19, 2012. A loving wife, amazing mother, cherished grandmother and giving friend, she was born May 27, 1936 in Sugar Run and raised in Elmira, NY, where she graduated from Southside High School.
She married Carl Drake in 1955. They had one daughter, Denise and moved to California in 1960. She was married to Carl for 25 years, and they remained friends after parting.
Kay worked for Kwikset Locks (now Black/Decker) for 25 years. She married Larry Janisse in 1983, retired from Kwikset in 1991, and returned to Sugar Run in 1992. They bought a home approximately one mile from where Kay was born.
She has lived in Sugar Run for the past 23 years. Kay had many hobbies, such as cooking, crocheting, quilting, being a terrific friend and neighbor, as well as being a huge supporter of Penn State athletics.
Kay was a long-time member of The Women of The Moose Anaheim Chapter No. 1473, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #534 and The Order of The Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband, Larry; daughter Denise and son-in-law, Lee Haines; grandson, Joshua; granddaughter, Hollee; stepson, Harvey Janisse and his spouse, Sheri and granddaughter Briana; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill Dyer and wife, Rena, Mahlon Dyer and wife, Mary; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Bill Marsh; favorite brother-in-law, Rick Janisse and wife, Tammy, brother-in-law, Dennis Janisse and wife, Georgia; sister-in-law, Michelle and husband, Ken; mother-in-law, Shirley Pilger and husband, Chuck. Kay has many other loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to mention, but she had a special relationship with her niece, Crystal Norton and her husband, Joey, who cared for her during her last days.
Kay has touched so many lives with her love, humor and faith, and there will be a hole in our hearts now that she has passed on.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Dyer and her father, Sam Dyer.
A funeral service will be held on Friday evening, June 22, at 7 p.m. in the Russell P. McHenry Funeral Home, 119 Carpenter St., Dushore. Family and friends are invited to view on Friday from 4 until the time of the service.
