Born Jan. 27, 1929 in Grayson County, VA, she was a daughter of the late Robert Wesley James and Maggie L. Holdaway James.
She had a great and strong faith in God and love of her family. She was a lay preacher in New Windsor, MD and also in Middleton, MD.
She spent most of her life in Maryland. She was employed in knitting mills, hospitality and healthcare and worked very hard to take care of her family. She moved to Wyalusing in 2004 to reside with her loving daughter, Brenda Shenk.
Surviving are three daughters, Shirley Stewart, Robbins, NC, Beverly Lewis, Cosby, TN, Brenda Shenk, Wyalusing; two brothers, Rush James, Troutdale, VA, Herbert James, Sugar Grove, VA; a sister, Margaret Cornett, Abbottstown, PA; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and four great-greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Wanda Fox.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 29 at 11 a.m. at the Garfield United Methodist Church, Smithsburg, MD. Interment will be in the Garfield Cemetery.
