Rodney Allen Stone, 48, of 2840 SR 3023, Montrose, PA (East Rush), passed away Sunday afternoon, July 1, 2012 at the Hospice Community Care in Dunmore. Born on Dec. 4, 1963, he was the son of the late Henry Stone and Dorothy O. Rose Stone of California.
He graduated from Elk Creek High School, in Elk Creek, CA in the class of 1981. After high school, he went on to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1982 to 1984. He was an avid fisherman and he especially enjoyed fishing in the Great Lakes with his best friend, Errick Nolty, who jokingly always called Rodney “Rooster.” He also enjoyed hunting. He took great pleasure in working around the house and farming. Rodney just really loved to be outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, Tracy A. Lattimer Stone, whom he married on Dec. 3, 1983 in Las Vegas; his daughters, Tanya Ann Stone of Dimock and Patricia Jean Stone of Mehoopany; his grandchildren, Ryan Rhoads, Jr., Grandpa’s fishing buddy, of Dimock, and Benjamin Layaou, Paige Layaou and Lillie-Ann Layaou, all of Mehoopany; his brother, David Stone of CA; and his sisters, Debbie Stone of Texas, Kathy (Gene) Travesari of San Jose, CA and Martha Stone of San Jose, CA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by one younger sister.
Rodney’s request was not to have a memorial service, but family and friends may come to Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Meshoppen, on Friday, July 6, from 3 to 7 p.m. for a time for calling and to share in remembrance.
