The Winding River Players will present the play, “Queen Elizabeth” at the Keystone Theatre in Towanda on Friday, Aug. 10. This is a celebration of the 125th anniversary of the Keystone and is the first play presented when the theatre, then Hale’s Opera House, opened that September in 1887. It starred one of the most famous late 19th century actresses, Elizabeth Crocker Bowers, and the people of Towanda were proud she chose our town for a stop on her nationwide tour. The Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church would like to sponsor a bus trip to Washington, D.C. to visit the war memorials and the Smithsonian Institute. The tentative date is Oct. 17.
