Electrical Problem Closes Wyalusing Schools
An electrical problem caused Wyalusing Area School District officials to announce an early dismissal today, Tuesday, Sept. 4. Elementary students will be dismissed at 10 a.m., high school students at 10:15.
District Superintendent Chester Mummau said school officials first became aware of a problem at 6:15 this morning when the school’s emergency generator kicked on and automatically sent an email to maintenance supervisor Bob Brigham. Brigham called a Penelec crew, which arrived at the scene at about 8 a.m., and it was determined that a fuse had blown on a pole outside the school, however, the problem could not be quickly resolved.
The emergency generator provides basic lighting to both the high school and elementary school and powers some equipment such as freezers, however, both buildings are without water.
Mummau said sports teams that have “away” games scheduled for today will play those games as scheduled. Electrical Problem Closes Wyalusing Schools
