What a Difference a Year Makes
These two photos were taken from the same spot on Wyalusing’s Route 6 bridge spanning the Wyalusing Creek about one year apart. The photo at the topt shows the tranquil creek as it appeared on Tuesday of this week, and the photo on the bottom shows the same view during last year’s devastating Sept. 8 flooding. Notice that the railroad bridge in the distance is high and dry in the left photo but almost totally submerged by the torrent during the flooding, with only the top few inches of the bridge barely visible as a faint line running horizontally beween the trees. In the year since the flooding, our region has made an incredible comeback. Most businesses that were inundated by the flooding have reopened their doors, and people who were displaced from their residences have, in most cases, repaired the damage and returned home.
