Claude C. “Dick” Clark, 91, well-known resident of Herrick Township, PA passed away Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012 at the Skilled Nursing Unit of Memorial Hospital, Towanda.
“Dick,” as he was known by his family and friends, was born April 22, 1921 in Cedar Creek, VA, the son of Claude C. Clark, Sr. and Rachel Browning Clark. He attended school in Herrickville and was a graduate of Camptown High School. On April 30, 1947, he married the former Sarah Lundy. Dick entered into farming with his father in Herrick Township and later purchased the farm from his father in 1949, which he operated until 1991 when he sold the farm to his sons, Dale and Keith. He continued to work on the farm with his sons and enjoyed spending the winter months in Englewood, FL.
Mr. Clark was a member of the Standing Stone United Methodist Church and the church Men’s Club. He was a member of the board of directors of the Pennsylvania Farmers Association and was a member of Eastern Milk Producers and the Standing Stone Grange. He also served as auditor for Herrick Township for a number of years.
He enjoyed the outdoors, farming and hunting.
Surviving are his sons, Dale Clark of Herrick Township, Keith Clark and his wife, Michelle of Herrick Township; grandchildren, Michelle Garcia and her husband, Samuel, who are stationed with the U.S. Air Force in Germany, Michael Clark of Canton and Sylvia Danielle Clark of Herrick Township; great-grandson, Liam Michael Clark; sister and brother in-law, Julia and Elwin Peet of Lancaster; half brother, William Clark of Georgia; sisters-in-law, Ella Mae Lundy, who is a resident of the Personal Care Home of Memorial Hospital, Towanda, Jean R. Lundy and Jean C. Lundy, both of Standing Stone and Jackie Clark of Virginia; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and his special friend, Marjorie Shores of Rome.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Sarah Lundy Clark on Feb. 20, 2002; sisters, Dorothy Komer and Helen Free Clark and half-brother, Michael Clark.
The funeral service will be held Friday, Sept. 14 at 2 p.m. at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, with Rev. Robert Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the Standing Stone Cemetery, Standing Stone Township. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
