Mildred W. Latini, 87, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away quietly on Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, in her home surrounded by family.
She had a full and productive life, born Nov. 16, 1924 in Montrose PA. She was married to Fiore Latini for 54 years; he preceded her in 2003. She was an intelligent, beautiful, strong woman who gave unconditionally to her family, friends and community; she will be greatly missed by many.
Mildred is survived by her four children, Col. Norman John Latini, Retired, Teresina Latini-Arnold, Ramona Latini- Biddle, and Fiore R Latini, II; six grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren and her sister, Charlotte Bullock.
She graduated from Penn State with a master’s degree in education. She began her career as a teacher in Pennsylvania and Nevada, and then moved to Albuquerque to spearhead the Dairy Council of NM, retired from the USDA/Cooperative Extension Service in 1986, working both in Washington State and New Mexico. She was a member of National Federation of Press Women (Past President), American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, listed in Who’s Who of American Women, Home Economist of the year 1989, Past President NM Public Relations Society of America, Past President NM Press Women and many other voluntary organizations.
Mildred was laid to rest next to her husband. A graveside service was held Saturday, Sept. 29, at 2 p.m. at Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale SE.
