Two Killed in North Towanda Accident
A head-on crash on the Route 220 overpass at Route 6 in North Towanda Township at 10:21 a.m. Tuesday resulted in the deaths of two drivers, according to Pennsylvania State Police at Towanda.
The crash occurred when a 2004 Saturn VUE AWD being operated by Scott R Halboerster, 44, of Dushore was headed south on Route 220 and attempted to pass the vehicle in front of him, crossing the double yellow lines and ran head-on into the northbound 2004 Subaru Forester 25X7 being operated by John E. Ambrosone, 65, from Hammondsport, NY 14840. Halboerster was not wearing a seatbelt; Ambrosone was wearing a seatbelt
A young female front seat passenger in Halboerster’s vehicle was airlifted to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville with serious injuries.
Bradford County Coroner Thomas M Carman confirmed the names of the deceased. Both were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel. Carman said both victims died of blunt force trauma and there was heavy entrapment in both vehicles. Routine toxicology tests are being conducted on both victims.
