Donna Mable Vaow Robinson
Donna Mable (Vaow) Robinson, 77 of Wysox, PA, who resided at the Bradford County Manor, passed away Nov. 22, 2012. Born in Meshoppen on Nov. 29, 1934 she was the daughter of the late Fred Vaow and Margret Comstock Vaow. Donna and her siblings; Delbert Vaow, Delta Vaow, Dale Vaow Lamphere and Dixie Vaow Dickerson, attended Towanda High School in Towanda. In 1951, she married her high school sweetheart, Leon E. Robinson.
Donna was known to her friends, family and throughout her community as a fun, caring, giving and devoted woman who was always ready to help her neighbor as evidenced by the numerous foster children that she and Leon loved so much. She was employed by many of the local area dress and garment factories as well as by Tina Pickett at the former Williamston Inn for several years.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leon Robinson (passed 2009); her beloved daughter, Leah Rumsey (passed 1996); a special foster son, Steven Salsman (passed 1996); her endearing mother, Margret Comstock Vaow (passed 2012); her adored father, Fred Vaow (passed 1997); her brother and sister-in-law, Delbert (passed 1994) and Norma Vanderpool Vaow (passed 2011); her sister and brother-in-law, Delta Vaow (passed 2001) and John Lamphere (passed 1995); and a very dear son-in-law, George Weber (passed 1980). Donna is survived by a loving and devoted family: her son, Leon “Bud” Robinson, II of Wysox; her brother, Dale Vaow of Glendale, AZ; her sister, Dixie Dickerson of Riddle, OR; her grandchildren, Londa and George Barnes of Plaistow, NH; Ladean Vanderpool and her fiancé, William Ross of Erie, Megan and Joseph Roberts, Jr. of Wysox, Caitlin Robinson of Charlotte, NC, Steven Salsman and his fiancé, Kelly Reidinger of Kernersville, NC; her great-grandchildren, Katie Barnes, Joseph Parisik, Leon Vanderpool, Leah Vanderpool, Kensey Sue Salsman, Adam Barnes, Jillian Roberts, Molly Roberts and William Ross; a special niece, Lorraine Hayward and a special nephew, Floyd Hayward, as well as many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family received friends Monday evening, Nov. 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home 217 York Ave. Towanda. The funeral service was held Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. William Westbrook, pastor of the Standing Stone United Methodist Church officiating.
