Joyce Wilkins Patton of Wyalusing, PA passed away on Monday, Nov. 19, 2012 at the Ashton Nursing Home, Athens, with her loving family at her side.
She was born on April 9, 1929, in Endwell, NY, the oldest daughter of the late H. M. (Moe) and Ida Dingman Wilkins.
After graduating from LeRaysville High School in 1947, she met and married Edward (Ed) Patton of Lime Hill on June 12, 1948.
They lived the majority of their 50 years in and around Wyalusing.
After Ed passed away Nov. 11, 1998, Joyce remained an active member of the Wyalusing American Legion Unit 534, the Sugar Run Ladies Circle and the 8 & 40.
She enjoyed volunteering her time, organizing events and cooking dinners at the Legion.
She was an avid crafter and loved to crochet and driving herself and her friends to events around town.
Surviving are her daughter, Ida (Dale) Ferguson of Falls; sons, Howard Patton of Wyalusing and James Patton of Rome, NY; sister, Marjorie Hicks of Carthage, NC; brother, Barry (Janice) Wilkins of Warren Center; grandchildren, Terri (Jon) Dearborn, Doniell (Ken) Park, Dustin Millard, Tara Patton, Paula Patton, James Patton and Mellissa Patton; eight greatgrandchildren and one greatgreat granddaughter.
She was predeceased by brother, Harry Wilkins, a sister, Gladys Lantz, and a greatgranddaughter, Richelle Garner.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 21 at 11 a.m. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing. Interment will be in Camptown Cemetery, Camptown, PA.
Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
The Sugar Run Ladies Circle will pass in review at 11 a.m., followed by the Wyalusing American Legion Auxiliary’s pass in review and memorial service, followed by the 8 & 40 memorial service.
