Hollis S. (Pat) Herman, 85, of New Albany (Evergreen), PA, passed peacefully at the Skilled Nursing Unit of Memorial Hospital in Towanda on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012..
Born on Aug. 16, 1927 in Rushville, he was the son of Stanley and Frances Zacharias Herman.
Pat was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army in the Aleutian Islands Campaign.
Mr. Herman was a selfemployed contractor in the area and also worked at Sylvania/Osram until retirement in 1992. Pat and his wife, Jean, enjoyed traveling around to Gospel concerts while health permitted.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jean Keeney Herman at home; three daughters and son-in-laws, Dianne and David Masters of New Era, Marcea and Bill Kinney of Wyalusing and Lorraine and Garth Bovier of Towanda; one daughter, Sandra Herman of Topeka, KS; two sons and daughters-in-law, Phil and Donna Herman of Towanda and Ted and Kathy Herman of Jermyn; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Jenner of Wyalusing and Bette Dewitt of Herrickville, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Carlton Herman, Clifford (Bill) Herman and Paul Herman; a sister, Shirley Hartman and an infant sister.
Family and friends were invited to call on Friday, Nov. 30, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Russell P. McHenry Funeral Home, 119 Carpenter Street, Dushore.
A funeral service was held Saturday, Dec. 1 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery, New Albany, Pastor Michael Dodd presided.
