Bake Sale, Saturday, Dec. 15, 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Connie’s Market, Rt. 6, Wyalusing, sponsored by “Rowdy Ross’s” Relay for Life team to benefit American Cancer Society. Stock up on goodies for the holidays.


Childhood Cancer Benefit, “Hope Lives Here” event, Dec. 15, noon till ? at Pine Cradle Lake Family Campground. Hosted by Bridget Colavito, senior project. Chinese auction, bake sale, chili dinner (free). There will also be a 50/50 raffle. Drawing held at 5 p.m. You need not be present to win.

Christmas Events

The Factoryville United Methodist Senior Choir and friends are preparing a very special event for Christmas this year on Dec. 16 at 5:30 p.m. They will be presenting their musical program in conjunction with a “free” full course dinner. The dinner will start with appetizers, then a ham dinner followed by yummy desserts. The music will be presented inbetween the courses. Soloists, instrumentals and of course, many numbers by the choir. It promises to be a fun evening.

The 12th Annual Free Community Christmas dinner will be served on Tuesday, Dec. 25 at noon at the Montrose Square Community Room, sponsored by Endless Mountains Health Systems physicians, employees, volunteers of EMHS and the community. Everyone is invited. No reservations necessary.

Children’s Christmas Party, sponsored by New Albany VFW Post 384 on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 11 a.m. Open to public for children, age 10 and under. Adult Christmas Party, members and guests, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. Bring dish to pass, meat and beverage provided.

Reservations are needed for the dinner-dance for New Year’s Eve at the Wysox Fire Hall. Northern Harmony II will furnish the music. For more information, please call Margaret

A Live Nativity - presented by the Rome Presbyterian, Rome United Methodist and North Orwell Union Church - will be presented on Saturday, Dec. 22. You may experience the Miracle that happened in Bethlehem between the hours of 5 and 7 p.m. Parking will be in the Presbyterian Church lot with the live Nativity set up on the Rome Fire Co. grounds. Donations will be accepted and will benefit Grace Connection. You’ve been to Roman Holiday - now come to the Roman Census!

There will be a candlelight Christmas Eve-Eve service at the Hollenback United Methodist Church on Dec. 23 at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Santa will be visiting TACO in Wysox on Dec. 19 from 10 to 12. He will be handing out sweet treats.

Hometown Holiday Party, New Year’s Eve. Sponsored by the Greater Wyalusing Chamber of Commerce and held in the beautiful Tuscarora Wayne room of the chamber’s home on Main St. Hors d’oeuvres are served at 6:30 p.m. social half hour. Then a full course meal is served by “Catering the Wright Way.” The menu includes mozzarella chicken and/or roast beef, with all the fixings. There will be a large assortment of the best desserts from the best kitchens in town.The rest of the evening is filled with music, laughter and dancing led by DJ “All About Entertainment.” This is BYOB. Some set-ups will be provided. Watch for posters, with more detail. Tickets are $35 person, sold at the chamber office. Sales are brisk, so don’t be too late. These tickets would make a great gift for Christmas.

T.A.C.O. Food Pantry holiday closing. The Towanda Area Christian Outreach Food Pantry will be closed Saturday, Dec. 22 through Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 for the Christmas/New Year’s holidays. The pantry will reopen Wednesday, Jan. 2 at 10 a.m. T.A.C.O. serves the Towanda, Northeast Bradford and Wyalusing school districts and is normally open Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 10 a.m. until noon. The Bradford/Sullivan Farm Bureau is hosting an open forum on the Fees charged on Royalty checks at the Wysox Fire Hall, Dec. 18, 7 to 9 p.m. Panel members are attorneys exploring suits against the gas companies.

S.O.S. Al-Anon — Family Group will meet on Fridays at 7 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Hopkins Street, Sayre.

Recovery House Meetings — AA Group of Towanda meets Mon.-Fri., noon; Mon., Thurs., Fri., Sat., 8 p.m., Sun., 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. NA meetings are held Tuesdays at 7 p.m. Speaker meeting every first Sunday, 8 p.m. All meetings at 205 Main St., Towanda (please use rear, lower entrance).

Compassionate Friends — of the Endless Mountains will hold their meetings on the second Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. in the Endless Health Community Center, Montrose. TCF is open to all families who have lost a child from any cause at any age. There are no membership dues or fees of any kind. MOPS — Mothers of Preschoolers meet every first and third Wed. of the month from 9 to 11 a.m., September through May. Meetings are held at the First Presbyterian Church, 5 Court St., Towanda. Caregivers’ Support Group sponsored by the Law Office of Leslie Wizelman and the B/S/S/T Area Agency on Aging meets at noon the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at the Library at Memorial Hospital Personal Care Home in Towanda except for December, which is an informal luncheon. Anyone taking care of a family member or loved one, be it at home or as a resident of a long term care facility welcome. The meeting dates for 2013 are as follows: Jan. 7, 22; Feb. 12, 26; March 12, 26; April 9, 23; May 14, 28; June 11, 25; July 9, 23; Aug. 13, 27; Sept. 10, 24; Oct. 8, 22; Nov. 12, 26; Dec. 10 only. This group is held for forgotten heroes who are providing care for a family member or loved one. The invitation to attend and participate in these confidential informal gatherings is for family and caregivers. The Wyalusing Senior Citizens will meet on Dec. 18 at the fire hall at 11:30 a.m. Donations for the bakeless bake sale will be taken. Ron Schoonover will provide the program. Come, bring a dish to share, your tableware and a friend. Please remember that if there is no school, there will be no meeting. If school is on a delay, there will probably be a meeting.
