Kayla Jo Young, 24, of Towanda, passed away Saturday evening, Dec. 8, 2012 at Memorial Hospital, Towanda. Kayla was born in Towanda on March 3, 1988, the daughter of Tracey Forrest Young and Rick Young.
Kayla liked animals and participated in the Wyalusing 4-H Club cat and dog project. She also played challenger league baseball. She graduated from Towanda High School in 2006 and then attended the Commonwealth Technical Institute at Hiram G. Andrews Center in Johnstown. She majored in accounting and graduated on April 23, 2010 with an Associate in Specialized Business Degree. She enjoyed reading books, working on her computer and playing word finds.
Survivors include her parents, Tracy Young (Jeff Saxon) of Towanda and Rick Young (Jolene Goodenow) of Athens; sisters, Jessie Young of Sayre, Abbigale Goodenow of Athens, and Mariah Anderson of Ulster; maternal grandparents, Larry and Connie Forrest of Towanda; maternal greatgrandmother, Adele Caseman of Springfield; Jeff ’s children: Shawn, Scott, and Summer, and three very special little people in her life: Zaquon, Lashawna and Cameron; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Alfred and Thelma Young; her maternal great-grandfather, Nelson Caseman and maternal greatgrandparents, Loren and Phyllis Forrest.
The funeral service will be held at 6 pm., Thursday, Dec. 13 at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13 at the funeral home.
