Christmas Events

The 12th Annual Free Community Christmas dinner will be served on Tuesday, Dec. 25 at noon at the Montrose Square Community Room, sponsored by Endless Mountains Health Systems physicians, employees, volunteers of EMHS and the community. Everyone is invited. No reservations necessary.

Reservations are needed for the dinner-dance for New Year’s Eve at the Wysox Fire Hall. Northern Harmony II will furnish the music. For more information, please call Margaret Roof at 570-265-3479. If no answer, please leave your phone number and your call will be returned as soon as possible.

A Live Nativity - presented by the Rome Presbyterian, Rome United Methodist and North Orwell Union Church - will be presented on Saturday, Dec. 22. You may experience the Miracle that happened in Bethlehem between the hours of 5 and 7 p.m. Parking will be in the Presbyterian Church lot with the live Nativity set up on the Rome Fire Co. grounds. Donations will be accepted and will benefit Grace Connection. You’ve been to Roman Holiday - now come to the Roman Census!

There will be a candlelight Christmas Eve-Eve service at the Hollenback United Methodist Church on Dec. 23 at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

The Rushville Church will be holding its annual Christmas Eve Service on Dec. 24 at 5:30 p.m. Everyone welcome.

The Wysox Presbyterian Church will be holding a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service on Monday, Dec. 24 at 6

p.m. with communion by intinction. Rev. Tom Blackall will be in the pulpit.

Hometown Holiday Party, New Year’s Eve. Sponsored by the Greater Wyalusing Chamber of Commerce and held in the beautiful Tuscarora Wayne room of the chamber’s home on Main St. Hors d’oeuvres are served at 6:30 p.m. social half hour. Then a full course meal is served by “Catering the Wright Way.” The menu includes mozzarella chicken and/or roast beef, with all the fixings. There will be a large assortment of the best desserts from the best kitchens in town.The rest of the evening is filled with music, laughter and dancing led by DJ “All About Entertainment.” This is BYOB. Some set-ups will be provided. Watch for posters, with more detail. Tickets are $35 person, sold at the chamber office. Sales are brisk, so don’t be too late. These tickets would make a great gift for Christmas.

The Wysox Presbyterian Church Choir will be performing their Christmas Cantata, “Emmanuel - Celebrating Heaven’s Child,” on Sunday, Dec. 23 during their 11 a.m. worship service. Following the service, refreshments will be served.

T.A.C.O. Food Pantry holiday closing. The Towanda Area Christian Outreach Food Pantry will be closed Saturday, Dec. 22 through Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 for the Christmas/New Year’s holidays. The pantry will reopen Wednesday, Jan. 2 at 10 a.m. T.A.C.O. serves the Towanda, Northeast Bradford and Wyalusing school districts and is normally open Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 10 a.m. until noon. Free Christmas Trees. There will be a few free Christmas trees available to clients of the T.A.C.O. Food Pantry, Rt. 6, Wysox on Friday, Dec. 21 between 10 a.m. and noon. Call ahead (570) 265-4422 to see if available. Bring your own rope if necessary.

S.O.S. Al-Anon — Family Group will meet on Fridays at 7 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Hopkins Street, Sayre.

Recovery House Meetings — AA Group of Towanda meets Mon.-Fri., noon; Mon., Thurs., Fri., Sat., 8 p.m., Sun., 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. NA meetings are held Tuesdays at 7 p.m. Speaker meeting every first Sunday, 8 p.m. All meetings at 205 Main St., Towanda (please use rear, lower entrance).

Compassionate Friends — of the Endless Mountains will hold their meetings on the second Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. in the Endless Health Community Center, Montrose. Caregivers’ Support Group sponsored by the Law Office of Leslie Wizelman and the B/S/S/T Area Agency on Aging meets at noon the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at the Library at Memorial Hospital Personal Care Home in Towanda except for December, which is an informal luncheon. Anyone taking care of a family member or loved one, be it at home or as a resident of a long term care facility welcome. The meeting dates for 2013 are as follows: Jan. 7, 22; Feb. 12, 26; March 12, 26; April 9, 23; May 14, 28; June 11, 25; July 9, 23; Aug. 13, 27; Sept. 10, 24; Oct. 8, 22; Nov. 12, 26; Dec. 10 only. This

group is held for forgotten heroes who are providing care for a family member or loved one. The invitation to attend and participate in these confidential informal gatherings is for family and caregivers. The Moosic Mets will be holding tryouts for players ages 8-17 at Electric City Baseball Academy, 733 Davis St., Scranton. Ages 8-11 will be held Sunday, Jan. 13 (6:30 to 8:30 p.m.) and Wednesday, Jan. 16 (6 to 8 p.m.). Ages 15-17 will be Jan. 19 (10 a.m. to 12 p.m.) and Jan. 23, (6 to 8 p.m.).
