H. Adelbert Otis
H. Adelbert Otis, 94 of Taylorville, Wyalusing Township, PA passed away Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 19, 2012 at his home.
Born on Oct. 18, 1918 at his home in Camptown, he was the son of the late Harry and Luella VanNess Otis. He has been a resident of the Camptown-Wyalusing area all of his life.
He worked at the Taylor Packing Plant as a jack-of-all-trades and retired after 51 years of employment.
Adelbert was a member of the Camptown Methodist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially the numerous 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. Play-ing bingo at Park Place brought him many memories. He also had a fondness for horses and owned a special one, Dixie, which he rode in parades and won many ribbons at horse shows in the area.
He leaves surviving his children and their spouses, JoAnne Treadwell of Melbourne, FL, Dianna and Paul Cresho of Taylorville, Janet Chaffee of Laceyville and Steve Otis of Wyalusing; stepdaughters and spouses, Irma and Dave Green of Homets Ferry and Shirley and Cliff Woodruff of Laceyville; a special sister, Betty Hillis of Wyalusing; his first wife, Nellie Vanderpool of Florida; a special niece, Phyllis Otis of Merryall, who always helped out with his care and nurturing and constantly brightened his day, as well as many other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his second wife, Martha E. Otis; three brothers, Clifford, Wilmot and Carl and a sister, Emily Kinsley.
At his request, there will be no calling hours. Interment will be in the Camptown Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
