Peter Michnich, 87 of LeRaysville, PA passed away, Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013 at his home. Born July 9, 1925 in Taylor, PA, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Katherine [Dyck] Michnich.
After graduating from the LeRaysville School Class of 1943, he became a dairy farmer.
Pete loved sports, especially the game of baseball when in his younger years he was a pitcher. He had a passion for music, playing the accordion and listening to polka music and dancing. Pete loved all kinds of animals, and birds.
Survivors include sisters, Anna Havtur of Vestal, NY, Mary Michnich of LeRaysville, Olga Michnich of Binghamton, NY; brothers, Joseph Michnich of LeRaysville, John Michnich of Philadelphia; sister-in-law, Mavis Michnich of Elmira, NY; nieces, nephews and their spouses, Diane and Bill Osmin, Sandra and Dick Clark, Jim Havtur, Robert and Lisa Havtur, Stephen and Linda Michnich, numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews and many friends and neighbors.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Michael Michnich and brother-in-law, Andrew Havtur.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 28 at Bartron-Myer Funeral Home, Inc., Montrose. Visitation was held one hour prior to the services.
Interment was held immediately following at Stevens Cemetery, Pike Twp., LeRaysville.
