Breakfasts

Monthly Breakfast at the Herrickville Fire Hall, Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. All you can eat: pancakes, French toast, ham, sausage, eggs, home fries, sausage gravy and biscuits, coffee, orange juice, real maple syrup and sugar-free syrup. Adults, $7; children to 12 years, $3; preschool, free. Benefit: Herrick Twp. Vol. Fire Co. - Dept. 4.

Card Showers

A card shower will be held for Silas (Leo) and Esther Mills 60th anniversary on Feb. 1, 2013. Cards can be mailed to them at 3608 Laning Creek Road, Towanda, PA 18848.

Church

An “Afternoon of Inspiration” featuring some of this area’s most talented musical performers will be held Sunday, Feb. 24, at 3 p.m. at the Wyalusing United Methodist Church. Benefits Spring Hill Church Volunteers in Mission. Call Faith, 570-746-3237 for more information.

The February Second Sunday Vesper Service will be held on Feb. 10 at 5 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, corner of Church and Chestnut Streets, Montrose. A simple supper will be served in the Parish House immediately following the service.

Dinners

The Hollenback United Methodist Church is pleased to announce the following dates for the free soup suppers for the next four months. These events start off with a Bible study at 4:30 and the supper at 5 p.m. All welcome. The dates are as follows: Feb. 13, March 13, April 10.

Pancake Supper at the South Auburn Grange on Feb. 9, starting at 4 p.m.

Wysox Sewing Society hold their monthly dinner noon on Tuesday, Feb. 12 in Ferguson Hall of the Wysox Presbyterian Church. Chicken and stuffing will be featured on the menu with mashed potatoes, gravy, cole slaw, assorted vegetables, gelatin salads and a delicious variety of homemade pies. Everyone is welcome. Donations Needed

Wanted: Donated items that are in good condition (excluding clothing and stuffed animals) to be used as prizes for the dime social fundraiser being hosted by the parents of the Class of 2013. Donated items may be taken to WVHS by 3 p.m. until Feb. 1. Large items may be donated, but please contact first Lorrie Schools (lschools@wyalusingrams.com)

Food items donations are also needed such as: Baked goods; Sloppy Joe sauce, hot dogs, hot dog and hamburger buns, paper products (plates, cups, napkins) plastic silverware, condiments, cans of soda, bottled water or even a cash donation to purchase these items. Baked goods can be dropped off during schools hours, Friday, Feb. 1 or after 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb.2. Volunteers are also needed to help with fundraiser.

Entertainment

Team Trivia night the Wyalusing Fire Hall, Sat., Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. Tickets available for purchase at the door or in advance at the Rocket-Courier office, 196 State Street and the Greater Wyalusing Chamber of Commerce office, Main Street. The Blue Heron Art Gallery will debut a new show “Circle and Square” on Saturday, Feb. 9 from 3 to 8 p.m. at the chamber building at 20 Main Street in Wyalusing. This event will coincide with the GWCC’s chili cook-off. The country band, Southbound, will play from 4 to 8 p.m. and there will be free line dance lessons at 5 p.m. The cost to attend the entire event and vote on the chili is $10.00 and for those wishing to only taste the chili and vote the cost is $5.00. Luthers Mills United Methodist Church will host a free movie night on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30. Popcorn and refreshments available. The movie showing is “The Pirates, Band of Misfits.”

S.O.S. Al-Anon — Family Group will meet on Fridays at 7 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Hopkins Street, Sayre.

Recovery House Meetings — AA Group of Towanda meets Mon.-Fri., noon; Mon., Thurs., Fri., Sat., 8 p.m., Sun., 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. NA meetings are held Tuesdays at 7 p.m. Speaker meeting every first Sunday, 8 p.m. All meetings at 205 Main St., Towanda (please use rear, lower entrance).

Compassionate Friends — of the Endless Mountains will hold their meetings on the second Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. in the Endless Health Community Center, Montrose. Al-Anon meetings in Tunkhannock: Endless Serenity Al-Anon Family Group on Monday, 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, 7 p.m., Saturday, noon. All meetings are held at the Tunkhannock UM Church Education Bldg., second floor.

MOPS — Mothers of Preschoolers meet every first and third Wed. of the month from 9 to 11 a.m., September through May. Meetings are held at the First Presbyterian Church, 5 Court St., Towanda. AA meeting, Friday evenings

AARP Meetings #4423 are held at the Wysox EMS Building the second Tuesday of every month with the exception of special meetings combined with a luncheon. Executive meeting is 1:15 p.m. and regular meeting at 1:45. The March 12 meeting will be held at the Fortune Buffet in Athens at noon for luncheon. On May 14, the club will hold their Spring Banquet at Bishop’s Restaurant in Ulster at noon. You don’t need to be a member as guests are always welcome. The 15th District of the American Legion will hold a meeting at Black Walnut Post #510 on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 1 p.m. Rep. Sandra Major and a Liquor Control Board representative will be on hand to explain the rules and regulations of the Small Games of Chance. Any interested person from any other organization that deals with the small games of chance or other interested individuals are invited to attend.

American Legion Auxiliary Unit #534 — will meet on Thursday, Feb. 14 at 6 p.m. at the Legion Post located on Route 6. All members are encouraged to attend. A small project for the veterans for Valentine’s Day will also be worked on. Dues are payable now.

There will be a Wyalusing Lioness meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Wyalusing American Legion Post #534, located on Route 6. All members are encouraged to attend. There will be a speaker from the Area Agency on Aging.

The Stevensville Birthday Club meets Tuesday, Feb. 5 at noon at Ernie’s Restaurant. They will celebrate Marissa Hick’s birthday with Elaine baking.

Rabies Clinics

Rabies Clinic, Feb. 4, 5 to 6 p.m. at Goodwill Fire Company, Laceyville. $10 per animal.

Sponsored by Rome Vet Clinic. Animals need to be caged or leashed.

Socials

A Dime Social will be held on Saturday, Feb. 2, from 5 to 7 p.m., in the Wyalusing High School cafeteria. The drawing will begin at 7 p.m. A variety of items will be available: TV, blender, toaster, pictures/Home Interior, end tables, furniture and much, much more. Food and drinks will be available for sale. Proceeds from the event will go toward the Senior Class of 2013 All-night Party.

Wyalusing Ball Association will hold 2013 sign-ups on the following dates: Friday, Feb. 1, 8, from 4 to 6 p.m.; Friday, March 1, from 4 to 6 p.m. Signups will be held at the Wyalusing Elem. School. Ages to register: (4-6 T-ball) baseball/softball (6-9 Rookie), (9-10 Minor), (11-12 Major), (13-14-15 Teener Division). Any child in the Wyalusing School District may sign up.
