Edward Alan Rathbun, 82, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at his home in Atlanta, GA. Born on April 17, 1930, in Browntown, he was the son of Bruce and Florence Mann Rathbun of Wyalusing. He graduated from Wyalusing High School in the class of 1948. After graduation, Alan joined the U.S. Army and worked for the U.S. Map Service in the Philippines and Washington, DC. He later graduated from Tri-State School of Engineering and had a career in aeronautics, mainly as a vibrations expert for Lockheed.
Alan is survived by his wife, Marcia, the daughter of the late Cecil and Genevieve Steele of Wyalusing, as well as his four children and their spouses, Julie (Ernie) Vilar of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Jan (Greg) Clement of Atlanta, GA, Susan (Richard) Kern of Simpsonville, NC and Jay (Rochelle) Rathbun of Clarksville, TN. Alan was blessed with twelve grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother, Bruce Rathbun, Jr. of Tunkhannock; a sister and brotherin law, Harry and Jane Rathbun Schulze of Wyalusing; a sisterin law, Joyce Steele of Lovelton; a brother-in-law, Tommy Knolles of SC; three nieces, Laurie Schulze of Austin, TX, Rosemary (Robert Fredieu) Schulze of Boston, MA and Beth (William) Miner of Meshoppen, and a nephew, Jon Schulze of Wyalusing.
Services will be at the convenience of the family.
