Born on Jan. 23, 1945, in West Nicholson, he was the son of the late Bruce (Dec. 31, 1991) and Mildred E. Carey Decker (Aug. 14, 2012).
He worked on Ray and Lida Jackson’s Farm in Laceyville, from 1961 to 1972 and Elmglade Farm, owned by Tom and Judy McCarty in Sugar Run, from 1972 to 1997. He then moved to Saint Augustine and worked for the St. Johns County School District from 1997 until he retired in 2008.
He liked to watch baseball games and Jeff Gordon racing in NASCAR. He enjoyed being outside, mainly doing lawn work and loved to take walks with his grandson. Most of all, he loved being around his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife, Bonnie Marie Fassett Decker, whom he married on June 7, 1967; his daughters, Debbie Middle of Saint Augustine, FL, Jody Beasley of Saint Augustine, FL and Nicole Algar and her husband, John of Mehoopany; his grandchildren, Cody and Zachary Middle, both of Saint Augustine, FL and Caitlin and Nicholas Algar of Mehoopany; his sister, Emily Bitler of Laceyville, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Edwin Decker (Aug. 5, 2002) and his brother-in-law Edward Bitler (Nov. 23, 2000).
