James Rought, Sr.
Born on Nov. 11, 1944 in Sayre, he was the son of the late Raymond and Elizabeth Armitage Rought.
He was a truck driver for RG Brown Refuse of Laceyville for over 30 years before his illness forced him to retire.
Jim enjoyed working on cars and hunting in his spare time. He loved to spend time with his family especially playing with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, James “Junior” M. Rought, Jr. of Northumberland, Lori Ceacord of Harrisburg, Thomas R. Rought of Meshoppen, JR Rought (Gabrielle) of Laceyville and Jason R. Rought (Yvonne) of Laceyville; his step-daughters, Michelle Parkhurst and Julianne Dennis, both of Laceyville; 18 grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren; his brother, Walter Rought (Gloria) of Wyalusing; his sisters, Martha Wildrick (Myron) of LeRaysville, Margaret Ball of Wyalusing and Joyce Cintron of Towanda; many nieces and nephews, as well as the one who held his heart, Lynne Brown of Dushore. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Rought and his sister, Ruth Chilson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon, April 6, at 1 p.m. at the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Laceyville, with Rev. Charles Bishop of the Transue Community Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Camptown Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday evening, April 5, from 5 to 8 p.m.
