Born in Rushville, PA on Sept. 6, 1920, he was a son of the late William and Laura Junk Steele. Harry attended Camptown School, and then worked for Jeff Barto on the farm in Camptown.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946 as a “Technician third grade signal service battalion’s aviation.” He was awarded several medals and ribbons. Afterward, he was employed by UniRoyal Chemical in Naugatuck, CT, from which he retired in 1985.
Harry was a member of the V.F.W. Post 1536 in Sayre and a member of the Wyalusing United Methodist Church.
Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Mary Franklin, Alice Franklin, and Irene Sutton, also a brother, Earl Steele. He was also predeceased by his first wife, Ruth McKernan Steele and his second wife, Ruth Bonney Steele.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 29 at 10 a.m. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, with the Rev. William L. Westbrook, Sr. presiding. Interment will be in the Wyalusing Cemetery.
