Mrs. Ruth O. Marshall, 89, of Dushore, PA, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre.
Born March 10, 1924 in Dushore, she was one of eight children of the late Eugene E. and Bertha I. Snyder Fulmer. She graduated from Cherry Township High School. She married Aloysius J. Marshall of Overton on April 8, 1943. They resided in Cherry Township until his death on Dec. 2, 1978. Ruth worked for many years at Dushore Lingerie, retiring in 1986. Later she moved to Sullivan Terrace, where she was one of the original residents. Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens. She also enjoyed quilting and ceramics.
Ruth was a member of St. Basil’s Church and the IHM Altar and Rosary Society, the Dushore Quilt Club and a member of the Sullivan Terrace Council.
Surviving are three daughters, Doris M. (David) Hatch of New Albany, Janice M. (John) Walsh of New Albany, Janet M. (Sid) Hatch of New Albany; brother, Wayne (Ruth) Fulmer of Muncy Valley; three sisters, Dorothy Baker of Camptown, Pauline Mulcahy of Monroeton and Joanne Dunn of Dushore; stepbrother, George Brown of Dushore; 11 grandchildren, Linda (Randy) Raub of Forksville, Roger (Michelle) Hatch of Sewickley, Craig (Stacie Ely) Hatch of Dushore, Patrick Bahr of Dushore, Mark (Melissa) Bahr of Mooresville, NC, Danny Bahr of Dallas, TX, Susanne (Jack) Armbrust of New Holland, James (Heather) Hatch of Tempe AZ, Jennifer (Steve) Miller of New Albany, Josh Marshall of New Albany and Julie Arnold of Perkiomenville; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter, numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, James Marshall on Feb. 26, 1994; two brothers, Carl E. Fulmer of Phelps, NY in 1968 and Glenn Fulmer of New Albany in 1996 and a sister, Geraldine Weisbrod Pehonich of Dushore in 1996.
A Transferal Service will be held on Friday, May 10 at 1:30 p.m. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water Street, Dushore, and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m. at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, her pastor, presiding. Interment will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Overton.
