Born in Tunkhannock, she was the daughter of the late B. William and Dorothy Colbenson. She was a 1947 graduate of Tunkhannock High School. Prior to retirement in 1990, Elsie was employed by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, serving 20 years in Wyoming and Sullivan Counties.
She was a member of the Tunkhannock Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, Elsie was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Benjamin J. Puza; brothers, Robert Colbenson, Sr. and Keith Colbenson and granddaughter, Laura Puza.
Surviving are sons, David W. Puza and wife, Paula, Dennis C. Puza, Donald R. Puza and wife, Sharon, all of Tunkhannock; sister Shirley Cokely of Springville; sister-in-law, Dorie Colbenson of Tunkhannock; grandchildren, Janet Miller of Canton, OH, David H. Puza and wife, Celeste of The Woodlands, TX, Meredith Sprenger and husband, Michael of Wesley Chapel, FL, Nicholas Puza and wife, Chelsey of Tunkhannock, Donald R. Puza and wife, Jodi of Shavertown, Brian Puza and wife, Megan of Ankeney, IA, Steven Puza and wife, Kammy of
Benjamin Puza of Tunkhannock; 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at the Nativity B.V.M. Church, 99 East Tioga Street, Tunkhannock, on Monday, May 6 at 10 a.m. with Father Richard J. Polmounter officiating.
Friends called at the Harding- Litwin Funeral Home, 123 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Interment was in St. Joachim’s Cemetery, Meshoppen.
