Rosie was born in Troy, PA, on May 30, 1951, a daughter of Mary Jane Wolfe Cole and the late Walter S. Cole, Jr. She attended Troy High School, graduating in the Class of 1969. She met and married Bill Smith of Wyalusing on Sept. 19, 1970. They just celebrated their 42nd anniversary last fall.
She was a member of the Wyalusing United Methodist Church. She was a lifetime member of the Wyalusing Valley Volunteer Fire Department, having been an EMT for a number of years with the Wyalusing Ambulance Association, and serving in many capacities with the fire company over the years.
Her greatest love was her family. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching them in their many activities and endeavors. She loved being in the outdoors, weekends camping at Haigh’s Pond, as well as winters in Florida. She loved spending time at her house on the hill and looking after her pets.
Surviving are her husband, Bill, at home; sons and daughters in-law, Bill (Kathy) Smith, Jr. of Wyalusing, Daniel (Megan) Smith of Magnolia, DE; daughter, Sherrie Smith and Crystal Helms of Wyalusing; sister and brother-in-law, Susan (Jim) Birdsall of Wyalusing; sister-in-law, Sharon Weingartner, Morgan Hills, CA; brothers and sisters in-law, Harold (Beth) Cole of Columbia Cross Roads, Ike (Patty) Cole of Columbia Cross Roads, David (Kim) Cole of Troy, Thomas (Phebe) Cole of Columbia Cross Roads, Richard (Missy) Cole of Bunn, NC; grandchildren, Brittany, Dillan, Mikayla, Mycah and Myla, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, several aunts, uncles and special friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on May 18 at 11 a.m. at her home, 612 Old School House Rd., Wyalusing, with the Rev. Vaughn Glover presiding.
