He was employed by Lockheed Martin as a field engineer for many years until his retirement.
John served in the Army.
Survivors include his sisters, Anna Havtur of Vestal, NY, Mary Michnich of LeRaysville, Olga Michnich of Binghamton, NY; brother, Joseph Michnich of LeRaysville; sister-in-law, Mavis Michnich of Elmira, NY; nieces, nephews and their spouses, Diane and Bill Osmin, Sandra and Dick Clark, Jim Havtur, Robert and Lisa Havtur, Stephen and Linda Michnich, numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews and his good friend dog, Prince.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Michael and Peter Michnich and a brother-in-law, Andrew Havtur.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14 at the Bartron-Myer Funeral Home, Inc., Montrose.
The Michnich family has been lifelong parishioners of Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Johnson City, NY. Fr. Teodor B. Czabala, of the church, conducted a funeral service at the funeral home.
Interment immediately followed at Stevens Cemetery, Pike Twp., LeRaysville.
Friends and family called one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
