A chicken barbecue to benefit the Wyalusing Valley Lady Rams softball team on June 23 at the chicken pit by PenMart, Rt. 6, Wyalusing. Hope to have chicken halves off grill by 10 a.m. Come out and support your Lady Rams.

First Annual “Eric’s Ride” Motorcycle Run. This is a 85 mile poker run on June 22, starting at Ernie’s Restaurant and Lounge, Stevensville. Registration, 9:30 to 10:30. Cost is $20 driver, $10 rider, includes tshirt, ride and pork BBQ dinner. All proceeds going to Eric Latini’s Scholarship Fund. (Eric tragically died in a motorcycle accident.) Father’s Day Lasagna Dinner on Sunday, June 16 at the New Albany Social Hall from noon to 6 p.m. Ages 12 and up, $8; 6 to 12, $5; ages 5 and under, free. Messengers, a contemporary Christian band from the Factoryville United Methodist Church, will be presenting the worship service at the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church on June 23 at 11 a.m. Everyone is welcome to hear the “word” in spoken and musical testimonies.

The Stevensville Presbyterian Church Vacation Bible School is set for June 24 to 28, 9 to 11:30 a.m. The theme is “Everywhere Fun Fair. “The staff and youngsters will share Bible stories, crafts, science studies, games and snacks. The Wyalusing Presbyterian Church on Church Street in Wyalusing will be celebrating their 220th birthday following the 10 a.m. worship service on June 30. The Moxie Community Church located at 315 Benjamin Road in Wyalusing will hold Vacation Bible School June 26 to 28 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Children will attend the regular service that next Sunday morning to share what they learned. The PSU Master Gardeners will discuss a variety of topics at their Open to the Public Class at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18. The class will be held at the former Cooperative Extension, 701 S. Cancer Prevention Study (CPS-3): Enrollment sites for the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Prevention Study are Thursday, June 13, at Towanda Memorial Hospital’s Conference Room A from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m.; and Friday, June 14, at the Sayre Guthrie Clinic’s Conference Room on 4th Floor Blue from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Eligible walk-ins (age 30-65 and have never had cancer) are also welcome and encouraged to participate.

A bereavement support group meets monthly, the last Tuesday of each month from 3 to 4:30 p.m. This group is open to those who have experienced loss and is facilitated by Trudy Ventello, LSW, a social worker with Memorial Hospital’s Hospice program. Wyalusing sports physicals will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 8 a.m. until noon for fall sports only (cross country, football, volleyball and soccer). Wednesday, July 17, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for winter and spring sports and also for 11th graders.

Trap Shoot

There will be a Trap Shoot at the Silvara Gun Club on Sunday, June 23 from noon to 3 p.m. to benefit the Beaver Meadows Ladies Aid. The cost is $25 and bring your own shells. Refreshments served by the Ladies Aid.


NTHA would like to invite loggers, foresters and first responder personnel to an upcoming event taking place on June 21 and 22. You can pick either day to participate in Advanced Logger Rescue. The program is designed to train first responders in dealing with logging accidents. There will be pastries at registration and a chicken dinner later in the day. Winding River Players will host their annual Summer Workshop Acting Troupe during the last week of June. The first session will be held on June 21 from 1:30 to 3:30. Auditions will be held at that time. The workshop will be held June 24 to 28 from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Two performances of Through the Looking Glass, June 28, 3 and 7 and a performance at French Azilum on July 14 at 1 p.m. Age range from 8 to 15 years.
