Dale Howard Lewis, 73, of 6369 Farr Hollow Road, Forkston Twp., PA, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 after a courageous 20-year battle with cancer at the Commonwealth Hospice at the Regional Hospital of Scranton.
Born on Aug. 23, 1939 in Farr Hollow, Windham Twp., he was the son of the late Rodney “Bud” and Elizabeth “Lizzy” Inman Lewis.
He was a 1958 graduate from Tunkhannock High School. He also attended Tri-State College in Angola, IN and Williamsport Community College.
Dale served our country in the U.S. Navy on the aircraft carrier Shangri-La as a precision machinist.
He worked at Whipples, Weldons, Avco Lycoming and PMF in Williamsport before owning rooming houses for Williamsport Community College students in the late ’60s to early ’70s.
In 1967, he married Mary Ann Igrisan (his sister’s college roommate) in Detroit, MI. They moved back to Farr Hollow in 1974 from Williamsport, where Dale began his fine woodworking business, called Custom Craft. Kitchens, fine furniture, cabinets and other fine woodworking products grace many homes throughout NEPA, as well as the United States, made from Dale’s shop.
He was an avid archery hunter and enjoyed being outdoors in the woods. He loved the challenges in figuring out a solution to any problem or situation. Dale was an inspiration to many who also were fighting cancer.
Dale is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary Ann Lewis of Forkston Twp.; sister, Judy (Lewis) Kishbaugh and her husband, Tom of Laceyville; brother, Larry Lewis and his wife, Evelyn of Tunkhannock; father-inlaw, Emil Igrisan of Farmington Hills,

Patricia of Farmington Hill, MI; aunts, Doris Inman Stone of Athens, GA and Alice Lewis Denison of Forkston Twp., as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Mary Igrisan and many aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 15 at noon from the Braintrim Baptist Church in Laceyville with Rev. Thomas Davis of the church officiating. Interment will follow at the North Flat Cemetery in Laceyville. The family will receive condolences at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
