Louise White, 89, of 1504 McGavin Rd., Meshoppen (Auburn Center), PA passed away Thursday afternoon, June 20, 2013 surrounded by her family at the Endless Mountains Health Systems in Montrose.
Born in Rush, PA on May 25, 1924, she was one of four daughters of the late Mark and Blennie Very Larue. She was a graduate of Rush High School, Class of 1943.
After high school, Louise married her husband, John White, on Sept. 5, 1943 and together they owned and operated their farm in Auburn Center.
Louise was a member of the Jersey Hill Church and taught Sunday School at the church for many years. She was a member of the Auburn Twp. Democratic Election Board, as well as the Pennsylvania Farmers Association. She helped with the Auburn Twp. school census for the Elk Lake School District. Louise enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, playing card games, cooking and being a great hostess to all her company that came to her home. She loved crocheting; she made items for all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She would even crochet and make meals for her family and friends that were sick in the hospital. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family.
Louise is survived by her husband of 69 years, John White of Auburn Center; her grandchildren, Robin Brown and her husband, Danny of Meshoppen, Francine Stevens and her husband, Anthony of Richmond, VA, Robert Francis Levi White and his wife, Aimee of Richmond, VA, Jeffrey White and his wife, Sarah of Madeira Beach, FL, Douglas White and his wife, Shelley of Chesapeake, VA, Suzanne White and her husband, Roberto Fernandez of Clearwater, FL and Scott Brian White and his fiancée, Elizabeth Hornick of Pittsburgh; her nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; her daughters-in-law, Judy White Meeks of Richmond, VA and Carol White of Meshoppen and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Francis White and Howard White; her grandson, John Joseph White and her sisters, Camille Chamberlin, Betty Hunsinger (her identical twin) and Mary Jane Sible.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 25 at noon at the Jersey Hill Church, Route 267, Meshoppen, with family friend, Rev. Guy Rathmell, officiating. Interment will follow at the Jersey Hill Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Monday, June 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Meshoppen, and on Tuesday, June 25 from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the Jersey Hill Church.
