Rudolph “Jake” Lasher, 97, of Meshoppen, PA passed away at the Gracious Living Estates, South Montrose, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, July 30, 2013. He was born on March 13, 1916 in Brinktown, PA, the son of the late Raymond and Sadie Gregory Lasher. He was married 68 years to the late Mildred Fassett.
Jake served with the Army in WWII and throughout his life he was a farmer, mail carrier, bus driver, egg hauler and retired from Procter & Gamble. He also was a county committeeman and a member of the American Legion. He was a member of the Elk Lake Community Church.
Jake enjoyed watching many different sports at the Elk Lake High School.
Surviving are five daughters, Dorothy of Tunkhannock, Sandy and husband, Robert Garey of Mill City, Beulah and husband, Nelson Clayton of Meshoppen, Helen and husband, William Rought of Falls and Patricia and husband, Charles Michalowski of Lake Winola; a son, Raymond Lasher and wife, Patty of Montrose; 10 grandchildren, Debbie and husband Bob Cudworth, James Teetsel, Jr. and wife Cathy, Lisa Edwards and husband Jesse, Jonathan Clayton, William Rought, Jr. and wife Edie, Guy Michalowski and wife Bettina, Jennifer Hoover and husband Ben, Julie Sellitto and husband John, Chad Lasher and Aubrey Guiton and husband Ryan; 16 greatg randchildren; nieces and nephews.
Mildred, he was preceded in death by a great-grandson; a nephew, Henry Alexander; two sisters, Arlene Alexander and Louise Eising, and his son-in-law, James Teetsel.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 3 at 11 a.m. at the Northmoreland Baptist Church, Creamery Rd., Centermorland, with Pastor James R. Howell officiating. Interment will be in Jersey Hill Cemetery, Auburn Twp.
Friends may call Friday, Aug. 2 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Harding-Litwin Funeral Home, 123 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock.
