Fenton Wilcox, 87, of 932 S. Main St., Towanda, PA passed away Thursday morning, Aug. 8, 2013 at his home following declining health. Born in Sugar Run, PA on June 17, 1926, he was the son of Ephraim and Mildred Fenton Wilcox. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Navy from July 13, 1943 to April 6, 1946. In early years, Fenton was employed by Dunn Brothers Construction in Towanda and was later employed by GTE Sylvania in Towanda for many years until his retirement in 1988.
Fenton enjoyed fishing, hunting and caring for his lawn and flowers.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Peggy Jo and Jim Coleman of Rome; son and daughter-in-law, David M. and Bonnie Wilcox of Monroeton; grandchildren, Twyla Wickwire and husband Ron, Condra Butcher (John Mazzara), Kristi Coleman (Billy Robinson), Craig Coleman, Thad Wilcox and wife, Heather, Drew Wilcox and wife, Jill; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Ennis, Selena and Julia Wickwire, Reuben and Cheyenne Butcher, Meeah and Ethynn Wilcox; sisters, Mary Shatinsky and Lil Jayne of Laceyville and Betty Marbaker of Troy, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins and special close friends, Ed and Suzanne Kulick and Ben and Marge Bidlack.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly V. Wilcox on Feb. 17, 2002; infant daughter, Susie Wilcox; brothers, Willy, Albert and Louis, twin brother, Fayette; sisters, Ruth Startzel, Jane Truesdale and Charlotte Anderson.
The funeral service was held Monday, Aug.
12, at 11 a.m. at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, with Rev. Dr. Karen Ballard, pastor of the Rome Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Quicks Bend Cemetery, Wilmot Township, with Towanda American Legion Post No. 42 according full military honors. The family received friends Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. and on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
