Aletha Meyers Porter, 98, of Wyalusing, PA passed away Friday morning, Aug. 30, 2013 at the Skilled Nursing Unit at Memorial Hospital in Towanda.
She was born the daughter of the late Ira and Lucy Duskin Meyers on May 21, 1915 in Topeka, KS. She was a graduate of Windfall High School, Windfall, PA.
Aletha worked in local sewing factories and was a custodian at Wyalusing Elementary School for years.
She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church of Terrytown. She enjoyed bowling, as well as crocheting. She was such an expert at crocheting she would fall asleep and continue to crochet. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family.
Survivors include her sons, Robert L. Porter and his wife, Linda of Wyalusing and Gordon Porter of Warren Center; her daughter, Barbara Ann Porter of Towanda; her son-in-law, Daniel Kithcart of Ulster; grandchildren, Missy McMurrer and her husband, Paul of Wyalusing, Mike Porter and his wife, Heather of Stevensville, Daniel Kithcart of Washington; greatgrandchildren, Kaitlyn Armitage of Wyalusing and Denton Porter and Lauren Porter, both of Stevensville, as well as many nieces and nephews, greatnieces and great-nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Denton Porter; her daughter, Mary Kithcart and her brother, Alva Meyers.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
