Born March 15, 1944 in Muncy, she was a daughter of the late John Edward and Dorothy Mae Grimm Bonawitz.
Nancy attended the Montgomery Area High School. On June 23, 1962, she married Donnie Dale Rood at the Evergreen Christian Church. They lived in Montgomery until 1973 and then moved and made their home in New Albany. She loved to garden, take trips to Florida, go camping and especially spending time with her beloved grandchildren.
The family would like to give special thanks to Donnie Bankes from Guthrie Hospice and Dr. O’Brien from the Guthrie Clinic for their care and understanding during her treatment and illness.
Surviving are her spouse, Donnie Rood at home; son, John Rood of Dushore; daughters, Penny (Christopher) Zack of Conklin, NY, Dawn (Alfred) Meddings of Williamstown, NJ; sisters, Louann (Richard) King of Lewisburg, Sally (Woody) Bilby of Muncy, Kay (Bruce) Sones of Muncy, Faye (Warren) Young of Milton, Debbie (Wayne) Houseknecht of Clarkstown and brother-in-law, Clarence Kenneth Rood of Muncy.
Nancy is also survived by four grandchildren; three great-granddaughters and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 27 at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water Street, Dushore, with the Rev. Terry Van Horn officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery, New Albany.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, Sept. 26 from 5 until 7 p.m. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Guthrie Hospice, 421 Tomahawk Road, Towanda, PA, 18848 in loving memory of Nancy Lee Rood.
