Christmas Events

Get a Head Start on your Christmas shopping on Sunday, Oct. 20 from noon to 3:30 p.m. at the Towanda American Legion Banquet Room, 912 S. Main St. Door prizes, cash and carry items.


The October Second Sunday Vesper Service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 5 p.m. St. Paul’s is located at the corner of Church and Chestnut Streets in Montrose.

On Oct. 13 at 10 a.m. the Methodist Churches of Muncy Valley in Sullivan County will hold a tent revival. The service is part of Sonestown Heritage Days Festival. The Greenwood Valley Boys will play bluegrass gospel as part of the service.

The Redeemed, a country gospel trio will be singing in concert at the Evergreen Christian Church, just outside of New Albany on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 2 p.m. All are welcome.

Craft Bazaars

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish Holiday Bazaar, “The Biggest Little Bazaar in the Area,” on Sunday, Nov. 3, 10 to 4 at St. Mary’s Hall in Wyalusing. Chicken and biscuit lunch. Hot dogs. WVVFD Appreciation Dinner, Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Wyalusing fire hall. Happy hour: 6 - 7 p.m., dinner, 7 p.m. An awards ceremony will follow. This dinner is held for the volunteers who helped during the Wyalusing Firemen’s annual celebration. Reservations are required. Free soup suppers are back at Hollenback United Methodist Church. They will be held on Nov. 13 and Dec. 11. The suppers will be from 5 to 6 p.m. with a Bible Study from 4:30 until 5. All welcome.

The Wyalusing Senior Citizens will meet at the fire hall on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 11:30. Bring a dish to pass and place setting. All persons 55 and over are welcome.

Turkey dinner at the Forkston United Methodist Church, 203 Main St., Forkston on Saturday, Oct. 12. Wyalusing’s Relay for Life will hold their annual kick off event on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at the Wyalusing fire hall. A spaghetti dinner will be served, 6 p.m. until 7 p.m.; Adults-$5, school age - $3; Preschool are free. The community is welcome to attend.

Fall has come again, so has the Candy Corn Contest at the Monroeton Public Library. Guess the correct number in the pumpkin and win a $50 gift card from Kmart. Tickets are 50¢ each or 3 for $1.

A Ceremony for Remembrance is scheduled on Sunday, Oct. 13 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital’s Sumner Lobby, located at One Guthrie Square in Sayre. The ceremony is for families, friends and caregivers of children of any age who have passed away. The community is invited. Halloween Events

Trick or Treat Night - in Laceyville will be held on Thursday, Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The Towanda Fire Department’s annual Halloween Parade will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26. Line-up at 6 p.m. and start time at 7 on Main Street, Towanda. Anyone wanting to register a float can call 570-265- 2222. Deadline is Oct. 23. All dignitaries, area fire and EMS personnel are invited. ATV’s, motorcycles and bicycles are to be with a float or group. Kids and costumed marchers need not be pre-registered. As always, throwing candy from floats, cars and trucks is prohibited.

Meshoppen Holiday Fund Halloween Parade on Friday, Oct. 25. Registration starting at 5 p.m., parade at 7 at Meshoppen Ball Park. Three age groups. Pumpkin carving decorating. Judging three age groups. Scarecrow judging, three age groups. Fun, prizes, refreshments.
