John Williams, Jr.
John Burton “Jack” Williams, Jr., 81, of Wyalusing passed away Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013 at the Highlands Care Center in Laporte, PA. Born in Sayre on Sept. 16, 1932, he was the only child of John B. Williams, Sr. and Amy G. Babcock Williams.
He was a graduate of Wyalusing High School Class of 1950. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Navy from Oct. 10, 1951 to Oct. 5, 1955. John served as a trooper with the New York State Police from 1962 until his retirement in 1982. He enjoyed spending time with his family, taking trips to Canada, the outdoors, was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley Jean Mosier Williams; children, Kimber Hoyt and husband, William of Rockwell, NC, Michael Williams and wife, Sheila of Rockwell, NC, Amy Dilts and husband, Russell of Southlake, TX, April Williams of Council Bluffs, IA, Lee Williams and wife, Monica of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Christopher Williams, Kaitlen Dilts, Kristen Dilts, Stephen Williams, Nicholas Williams, Joshua Williams and Deborah Simpson; great-grandchildren, Draeg Williams, Raeker Williams, Mia Williams and Jack Simpson.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Oct. 24 at 11 a.m. at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, with Rev. Jira Albers, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Towanda, officiating.
Interment will be in Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mills.
