Basket Raffles

A Basket Raffle Fundraiser sponsored by the Stevensville Community Club will be held on Thurs., Nov. 14, noon to 5 p.m.; on Fri., Nov. 15, noon to 5 p.m. and on Sat., Nov. 16, beginning at 10 a.m. The drawing will be held on Sat. at 4 p.m. Questions, call Harriet at 570-746- 3523 or Jean at 570-746-3188. The next monthly breakfast at the Herrickville Fire Hall will be the Hunters’ Breakfast on Sunday, Dec. 1 from 7 to 11 a.m. Menu: pancakes, ham, sausage, biscuits, sausage gravy, real maple and sugar-free syrup, coffee and orange juice. $7.50 for adults; $3.50 children up to 12 and preschool, free. Christmas Events

On Saturday, Nov. 2, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. the Springville Area Women’s Club will sponsor its annual Christmas Bazaar. With over 130 vendors, and a handcrafted quilt display. The Christmas Bazaar is held at the Elk Lake school. For more information, call 570-278-3365.

Holiday Shopping Extravaganza on Sunday, Nov. 17 from noon until 3:30 p.m. at American Legion Post 42, Towanda.


Second Sunday Vesper Service on Nov. 10 at 5 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Montrose. Simple supper served afterward in the Parish House.

Craft Bazaars

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish Holiday Bazaar, “The Biggest Little Bazaar in the Area,” on Sunday, Nov. 3, 10 to 4 at St. Mary’s Hall in Wyalusing. Chicken and biscuit lunch. Hot dogs. Turkey raffle, pick a gift raffle, bake sale. Tables are available for vendors, call Dennis at 570-746-1006 if interested.

IMH Fall Bazaar Sunday, Nov. 3 at St. Francis of Assisi Hall, Rt. 487, Mildred, noon to 5 p.m. Cards, Bingo, adult and children’s games. Food available.


WVVFD Appreciation Dinner, Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Wyalusing fire hall. Happy hour: 6 - 7 p.m., dinner, 7 p.m. An awards ceremony will follow. This dinner is held for the volunteers who helped during the Wyalusing Firemen’s annual celebration. Reservations are required. Free soup suppers are back at Hollenback United Methodist Church. They will be held on Nov. 13 and Dec. 11. The suppers will be from 5 to 6 p.m. with a Bible Study from 4:30 until 5. All welcome.

Wyalusing’s Relay for Life will hold their annual kick off event on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at the Wyalusing fire hall. A spaghetti dinner will be served, 6 p.m. until 7 p.m.; Adults-$5, school age - $3; Preschool are free. The community is welcome to attend.

The Hollenback United Methodist Church will be holding a chicken and biscuit Election Day lunch on Nov. 5, starting at 11:30 a.m.

Chicken Biscuit Dinner in the bingo hall at the Black Walnut American Legion Post 510, Sunday, Nov. 10, 1-6 p.m. Adults $8; children $5. A basket raffle and silent auction will be held. Proceeds will benefit WVHS student Brooke Force’s 2014 student ambassador trip to Europe. The legion hall is located at 338 Old Route 6, Laceyville.

Grief Support Group: Jan.- Dec. 2013. A bereavement support group meets monthly, the last Tuesday of each month from 3 to 4:30 p.m. This group is open to those who have experienced loss and is facilitated by Trudy Ventello, LSW, a social worker with Memorial Hospital’s Hospice program.
